Can you believe it, William had never eaten a Bignet! Poor boy. No, wait, he had never had a poor boy either, haha! Well, that was remedied soon enough. We also had some of the most fabulous gulf shrimp i have ever tasted, amazing! We brought some home, too, if you can believe that, packed in ice in the luggage. We are nuts, that's for sure. But when it comes to the shrimps, it just had to happen. YUMMY! I am amazed that, more than two years after katrina, how messed up the gulf coast remains. Along the coastline of mississippi, eighty percent of the buildings are gone. All along the road, there are foundations with rebar sticking out of the ground, pieces of signage from the businesses that were there and chunks of concrete and dirt in the lots. The area may never be rebuilt. The occasional buildings that you do encounter are either fast food establishments or casinos. It's a wierd dichotomy of urban wasteland and excess, mostly the former.
